Default MAF & Oxygen Levels

Hi All,

Believe this to be a very common one having read a few threads on here. Driving back to home to Sheffield from London yesterday afternoon - the 'engine management service required' light came on. I suspected it might be either oil level - or swirl flaps (as have had these sorted in the past 6 months).
However, this time the codes read Mass Airflow Sensor & Oxygen Levels. I have cleared the fault codes to see if they re-appear.

My concern is that we have planned a long drive to heathrow for holidays this coming Saturday. I'm guessing I should get the car properly diagnosed before doing the 300+ mile round trip!? I see there are a number of possible causes (intercooler leak etc) Any thoughts really appreciated. :-)

What model/year? How did you read the codes? Generic code readers can mislead you - VIDA is the best/only real option, otherwise you may be barking up the wrong tree.

However a visual inspection would not hurt. Check for induction leaks as you suggest by listening for whistles/hissing whilst the engine is running. If you can get a smoke machine, that will help.

Hi it is Volvo XC90 2008 D5. I invested in a iCarsoft i906 scanner off the back of recommendations on here. VIDA sounded a bit too complicated for me!

+1 on intake leak

Don't spend any money on any replacement sensors until you are 1000% sure your intake system has no leaks
