Hi all, Malcolm
Just looking at the blower motor that I have (which by the way is good). It is an easy job (glovebox out, drop panel under glove box, unplug wiring connections, undo 4 Torx screws). And you could start it and still have a driveable car if you decide to pause midway. But I do have one snag. How do I separate the loom from the blower housing? The loom ends with a connector which is clipped to the housing. I don't want to break the clip or the housing. Thanks Steve

Steve,
Thanks for the advice. I was planning on removing the glovebox etc tomorrow so i could confirm the one fitted in my car is the same as being a late P1 some parts seem to be P2 compatible... I have no idea how to detach the connector... does the red clip play a part in it?? - or does the housing need to be uncliped and a screw removed from below ? It must detach otherwise it prevents the part from being replaced. My old Haynes manual simply says to "detach the cable conduit from the blower motor and move the wiring out of the way" The image just has more or less the same "unclip" is used to describe the cable removal

Hi Malc
7:33 shows what looks like a clip that the connector could locate onto, but Robert doesn't show the step of removing the connector from the clip. Arrgh, so close. I'll think about it and have another look tomorrow. Presume you will look at your end too. The red metal clips on the side don't seem to move or do anything. Steve

Sorry to hear Roberts videos were of little use... To me it seems that he just pulls off the main cable harness (pipe thing) from the housing and then pulls the two wires from the motor connector... what else is attached ?
I'm going to have a look at mine in the morning... I'll let you know what I find

Well the fan is out... To remove the connector I simply slid it upwards towards the window screen, parallel to to the face of the fan housing if that makes sense. It's like the housing has a T shaped clip which secures the connector - I pushed it backwards and the connector came off.
I tried the fan in the car prior to removal and it had stopped working completely. Once removed I tested the fan by using a DVM and there is no resistance, almost a dead short and placing a 12v supply across the terminals resulted in no movement and just a small spark.

I also managed to pull the clip out of the housing - with a little persuasion it just pulls straight out

Well its defo the motor. I placed a DVM across the two terminals on the connector and moved the slider around and the voltage could be seen running form around 7v to 11.4v as the slider was moved. So at least the resistor pack is OK
