V70 Battery Drain
Hi all, apologies for jumping in on this thread but I have a similar battery drain problem on a 1998 V70. I have checked the drain on the battery by disconnecting the -ve battery lead and connecting the avo meter between the lead and the battery. With everything off and car locked I got a 2.8 amp drain, which is way too high. Pulled the immobiliser fuse and the drain dropped to about 0.2 amp. So without waiting 5 minutes or whatever as suggested elsewhere, after locking the car with the remote will the drain reduce after a period of time i.e. does the immobiliser reduce the current requirement after some peiod of time? Will a lock / unlock 5 times with the key or remote re-set the immobiliser?

Can't speak for P80, but on P2 platform I connect the voltmeter to the battery, keep open the access to the fuse panel, then wait 10 minutes for all computers to shut down without touching anything. At 10 min sharp the amps drop to about 0.01 or 2 (assuming there's no drain) and only then I start pulling fuses. If there some light that doesn't shut off after 10 min - such as a trunk light, I would just disconnect it ahead

OK, so I have to wait 10 minutes + for everything to shut down? If the trunk [boot] light stays on I would suspect the switch if it's the mercury type and been mis-positioned?

I'm sorry for asking, had an 855 years ago, but as far as I remember, there was not much "computerized" in this car, wasn't it? Does it even have OBD2?
My understanding is, only with connected modules and therefore a central module, it is necessary to let these shut down. In my old 855 there were only seperate modules, that were shut down right with the car. So not really sure, if this is necessary in your case. But as I said, I'm not sure, how far Volvo took in the last model years before the change to the P2 platform (850 -> V70(I) -> V70(II = P2).
