Default Heated windscreen problems

Has anyone else had such patchy defrosting from their heated screen? I don’t remember it doing this last year, but it’s consistent now, almost like some of the wires aren’t working? Thanks!

Funny I had a similar thing on mine but only 1 wire directly down the middle.

Will have a look again if I get a chance.

We had a similar problem on our Freelander, where only half the screen would defrost. Needed a new windscreen in the end (under warranty mind you).

Maybe it needs a little accidental tap with a rock, thrown up by a passing truck...

Yes, under warranty until September so I’ll be getting them to look at it ASAP. Since the wires are embedded in the glass, I don’t quite see how they can fail like this after 2 years ?!?

So the dealer has confirmed a replacement screen is needed, covered under warranty which is good as it’s £850 otherwise! They’ve never seen this before and are at a loss to explain how it’s happened after 2 years, no damage to the glass at all. Interestingly they don’t fit them themselves, they get a windscreen person in to do it. Booked in for next week.

My partner had this happen on her Fiesta. Turns out that there's separate fuses for the left and right side of the heated windscreen, so replacing a fuse corrected the issue. This is worth checking before you go to a dealer.

Yep, you can usually get this sorted out as part of your windscreen insurance. I've had this done in the past FOC (apart from rampaging insurance premiums)

Stoneacre Sheffield. Bought the car from Clive Brook but that’s a trek and I’ve generally dealt with the Stoneacre service guys since they were at Harratts years ago.
