Default Sensus - map update live

Previously I have downloaded Sensus Europe map updates (round about 52 Gb) onto a USB stick, taken the stick to the car where Sensus picks it up and downloads the contents over about an hour or two - maybe less. I last did this for EU.904.1311 pub. 03/09/2020.
Recently I worked out internet tethering, not that I used it for anything than downloading the pretty paltry provision of Volvo apps to the car - Spotify, Glympse, Volvo ID, .. .., not more than half a dozen others.
There's a new Europe map update EU.904.1343 pub. 06/05/2021 and almost by accident it started downloading over my tethered phone during a car journey. Currently it's showing Western Europe only (about 4 Gb) but even that is downloading very slowly and all over "expensive and limited" phone data allowance.
1) Having created the usual USB stick, I hoped to over-ride the phone installation and resule to completion over USB, but got a message;" "Update ongoing, cannot interrupt" (or similar).
2) I'm hoping the phone installation will "stop" after North Western Europe and not proceed to a gargantuan and jurassically slow update of the entire 52 Gb.
3) Can anybody help me control this either by interrupting the current operation, or at least limiting the iupdate to the current subsection North Western Europe?
Meanwhile I'll carry on driving around waiting for some kind of resolution, and watching the phone data remorselesly racking up!

I would go into the download manager, then select map updates from the top and then cancel the install.

The car will only auto update the home region, so the others will not download.

Saying that, when mine downloaded the current map it was a 400mb or so download as I believe it only downloads the changes between the currently installed map and the new one.

Untick 'automatic download' then you have control.
