Default XC90 2017 T6 bevel gear oil leak at 60k

I was recently told that the bevel gear collar on my 2017 XC90, which only has 60K on the clock, has an oil leak. They said that it's an issue that is cropping up with quite a few newish XC90s and I'm told it's going to be an expensive repair. I have to take it into the dealer and them give me an estimate as the shop I went to initially didn't have the specialized tools to do the work. My warranty has expired, but this seems like something Volvo should stand behind. Am I dreaming? Has anyone else heard of this issue on cars of this age? Any advice would be most welcome! Thanks! N

So based on the silence, is it safe to assume this is not a common problem?

You may want to try the https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=201 the General forum, specific to your vehicle, where other owners may generally look.

Default oil leak

Hi,
I have the same problem but I am going to solve it with oil leak additive.
My friend used one from liqui molly and problem is gone.

After he add adittive into oil and oil leak stopped he changed commplete oil and practicly problem is GONE.

I hope that helped, because otherwise repair here in germany is around 500euro. ( not at official dealer).

Not heard of it in UK . Hey Boulder , have you popped in PS Audio to listen to those magnificent Infinity IR5 Speakers ?
