Changing km to miles on imported car.
Hi guys I am new here and have searched across the forum for an answer but not managed to find a what I am looking for. I stumbled across the site from a google search of an older post on the topic.
I bought a 2014 XC60 D5 from new in the GCC market (UAE). We relocated from there, back to the UK and to register the car here it needs to pass an IVA test. For it to pass the test here it needs the headlights modified to RH drive and the speedometer to miles from KM. I have found a garage that can do the lights no problem, but they have advised they are unable to modify the speedometer with the diagnostics tools they use. My question is, is this something Volvo can amend? Are there any other alternatives that could get it through the required IVA test? The UK regulations states that even a GPS speedometer is not legal on UK roads. Any advice would be really appreciated. TIA |

Someone on here may have had it done, is there no settings to alter it on the older XC60. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=187

I don't see your problem with a speedo in Km. I bought an imported Japanese V70 which, because it was a RHD , had none of your other problems. It was MoT 'd in the UK and has since had a repeat test one year later. My speedo is in Km as is the text on the notifications but you soon get used to it. I have also been given to understand that a speedo. is not a legal requirement for the test- I had one fail on my 960 and just used an app on my phone until I could get it fixed. Might be worth looking in to!
