I painted our previous House's Tarmac drive with Thompsons Tarmac Seal which re-colours it black and gives it a water resistant seal, great stuff.

Everyone thought we'd just had it re-tarmac'd it looked that good.

Excellent stuff. I do our drive every year with it.

Looks new afterwards.

So any tips on jacking on tarmac? such as anyone using wood underneath etc? its tight with the jack under the car as it is, and I don’t think wood underneath will allow me to get the jack under.

Also any ideas on how to repair/make the damage not so obvious? if the wife see's it I might have my balls in the vice!
You can get small bags of cold set tarmac to do repairs, only problem is it tends to go off to a lighter colour so it will still stand out..
As its been said get some steel plates in future to spread the load, I have also used off cuts of thick alloy checker plate as they are a bit lighter to carry around.

Block paving does look fantastic when done well, and have seen a whole yard done for the territorial army lorries, but they have large tyres that spread the load, if your running or parking in the same areas all the time they always seem to sink even when a whacker plate has been used to tamp the sand down before laying the blocks, perhaps laying them on stone dust might be the solution ?
