Default Heated Rear Screen

I appear to have rubbed a small section of the strip from the rear window can anyone suggest a suitable repair seen a few kits on web no idea what is effective?

When you say rear window do you mean the rear side windows or the rear screen? With the thread title I would assume that you mean the screen but if you did mean the side windows, the element on the glass is not a heater but the radio aerial. The repair for both is the same. Use metallic silver rich paint to redraw the missing element and complete the circuit. Cannot advise which is the best brand. The end result will depend on how fine a brush you have and how steady your hand is. My personal experience over the years is that these repairs are often not very effective but that may be down to my inability to carry them out efficaciously.

Apologies, I'm referring to the reear window. I have managed to remove some of the metallic strip only a mm but makes a 12 inch section inoperable more annoying than anything I suppose.

I’ve used the silver “repair paint” in the past on a previous car. (Morris Marina). It did the job but I could not paint a thin enough line and it was rather obvious.
A very long time ago I installed a rear window heater in a Ford Cortina mk3 using a kit. It comprised of a long strip of the heating element mounted on a 1” wide backing strip plus two short strips with a wider element to be fixed, one at each end of the glass, to connect the wiring to. Thoroughly clean the glass then fix the strips to the glass using the width of the backing strip as the separation distance and overlap the ends of the horizontal elements on to the wider end elements. Once satisfied carefully peel off the backing strips leaving the thin heating elements in place. Final appearance was very similar to a genuine heated glass and it worked very well but cleaning afterwards needed to be done very carefully to avoid breaking or dislodging the element.
One of the strips on my current Volvo 940 does not work but all the others still do. I’m loathe to try the repair paint due to it’s appearance. I have tried to source something similar to the kit I have described to use a short section as a repair but to date without success.
