Default Heater valve

Hi,

My heating can't be turned off, moves from warm to hot only. It seems people tend to replace them, are they not at all repairable?

Also, if I buy a proper replacement, what do I do with the capillary tube? Is it possible to shove it into the heating system without taking the car apart?

Thanks,
Henrik

This chap replaced his with an alternative (VW I think) that was far cheaper:

... it seems to have worked fine.

Thanks,

That "original" valve is nothing like what my car has, I assume that is from a '91+ car.

And those plastic valves don't get good review. (And price doesn't matter to me).

With this type of valve https://www.classicswede.org.uk/240_..._20306684.aspx

What you can do is either push the end of teh tube into the heater box or otherwise just fix it onto the side of the heater to save opening it

Thanks, pushing it in through the hole was one of the options I considered, but wasn't sure if it would snap.

So I take it general opinion is that they are not repairable?

Thanks, will have to read that guide slowly, I think, and see if it is something I can do!
