Hi Derek,

I did make him an offer for the front panel and fuel tank as well, but he wasn't up for it and I didn't really need them for this project.
The 'bottomless loft' should yield any spare bits of trim as I seem to remember having enough to go round most incarnations of the Amazon up there though the existing trim is quite good on this car.

Regards,

Gordon

Gordon, you seem to be doing a fantastic job and have done more in a year than i managed on mine in the last 8.

Just wish i had the indoor facilities to do mine, hence why i've decided to sell it

I'm getting tantalisingly close to fitting the new O/S wing.
I've had so little time over the summer to spend on the project, but hoping again to start regular sessions on it
Here is the RHS rear section of the sill cleaned up with all the rot cut out.
I'll make a repair panel and weld this in. Just another couple of areas to tidy up and the new wing can go in.
This will be a two man job (you should see the size of the thing!). So my mate Alan is going to come and lend a hand (or two). Thankfully the sill is nowhere near as bad as the LHS was..

Ditto!

Very useful pic btw of the jacking point reinforcement inside the centre sill

Oh, and was that your 1800S in an episode of the current series of Inspector George Gently? The reg number looked very familiar.

Well spotted that man!
Thanks for your encouragement on the project.
Hope to have the rear wing in within the week.
Made up the sill repairs today.

Hi everyone!

Thought I owed it to you all to post an update.
The Freebie Amazon Project certainly has been through some 'doldrums' so to speak, but is very far from dead. In fact the discovery that we are expecting twins in October has catapulted me into a mad flurry of activity to try and get the thing finished before the great nappy tax (double due) is imposed on the Hunter household!
The fact that I have had no working digital camera hasn't given me much incentive to post either, but like all members of the 'slightly older generation' I am being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century and have actually bought a smart phone with a decent camera on it. I hope to have lots of fresh piccies up here for you soon -as soon as I figure it all out!

The main jobs done since I last posted:

Chassis tweaked.
New rear wing fitted.
RNew rear panel welded in.
O/S wheel arch repaired.
Boot floor repairs fabbed and fitted.
Most of underside shot blasted.
Boot shot blasted.
O/S A post repaired.
Drain holes in floors welded up.
All suspension parts prepped for shot blasting
Front X-member, engine and gearbox removed.
Engine block bare metalled and re-painted.
Lower front inner wing repairs started.
...and loads of other small jobs that are too tedious to list!

That's all for now.
I'm on Jury duty for the next two weeks, so if I find any photos on the laptop surviving from my dying camera era, I'll get anything worthwhile up here for you.
Hope you're all keeping well and enjoying the odd patch of sunshiny driving in your Ammos and 1800's.

Cheers,

Gordon
