I've been refitting my repaired in tank pump today, I took a nosey in the tank and I found this?

Is it meant to be there, or is it some kind of alien tracking device?

As Moomoo says they're lead balls that are meant to increase octane and allow a car that's meant to run leaded fuel on unleaded... In reality it's some metal mesh holding lead balls that sits at the bottom of your tank for the rest of time doing absolutely nothing.

I thought as much, just wasn't sure if it was some Swedish sorcery that was at play haha.

It looks like one of those 'patent' devices that claims to boost octane/convert unleaded fuel/increase gas mileage/make the weather nicer - or all the above. These are all bunkum claims, so just put it in a safe place where the binmen can find it.

:-)
