Angry Sat nav cd reader problem

Hi guys,

my S80 2006 VOLVO has Sat Nav problems. The garage said it needs a new CD laser reader for the back as the front screen keeps saying disc reading error.

Does anyone know where and how much it would be to get a CD laser reader?

Any help will be appreciated,

Daniel

did you remove disc and have issue when you re-inserted the disc?

I had 'cannot read disc' message after battery change (2002 V70 with dvd system)

I tried removing/inserting dvd to no avail and same message

but I dug out the manual which seemed to give a 'procedure/sequence' for replacing ejected disc, and it worked!! all up and running

Start off with the correct Volvo cleaning disc. Next try a different sat nav disc to eliminate the cheap/easy option, but chances are its the laser that's knackered. You're probably looking at around £200 to replace the laser. I managed to pick up a complete DVD drive on eBay the other week for £80 which I was able to just swap over.
