Faulty auxillary air control valve?
alright, so the haynes manual ststes that it should be open, or at least partially....i've looked and taken it off the car and its open by about 3-4mm i understand that when cold it should be open and a once the car heats up, it should close? i'm confused! anyway i dont see it move whatsoever and its the type that cannot be opened, though the valve inside can be freely move open, and it springs back shut..... Having a crappy cold idle that just cannot be traced back to anything else lol

Ok, now i've found out, its the injector seals, i squirted wd40 around the injectors and the wd40 gets sucked in and the revs go up, now i must find a place that do injector seal kits

My AAC valve behaves the same way as yours, doesn't seem to be a problem for cold idle. Actually, I never really get a fast idle - but it seems to idle ok at about 900 rpm on a cold start whatever the weather. When it's really cold, it sometimes creeps up to about 1100. I did get the AAC to open further by popping it in the freezer: I guess fully open is for Scandinavian-style cold starts!

Hahaha!! good one! I squirted wd40 around the injector seats and the idle revved up and evened out...i couldn't find and injector seals, and a cheap parts place (eurocar parts) wanted £44.95 PER injector! Even then they didnt come with seals...tut-tut, so i popped out the injectors tested their firing patterns, cleaned the crud/ coke of the shafts of the injectors and smeared silicone sealer around the seats and installed them back in the car..works perfect! Cold starts it starts and idle at 800rpm and stays there, the exhaust doesnt stink all the time like it used to, and the fuel last longer :-) |
