Electric seats to replace non-electric ones
I want to change my half leather seats for full leather. I have a chance to buy some really good ones (from a car the same year, but with massively lower miles), however the driver's seat from the donor car is electric. Does anyone know if the wiring is already in place in my manual seat car to plug it in, or will I need to swap the new cushions and covers onto the original frame? I'm not bothered about having electric adjustment, however I do need to be able to adjust the seat occasionally!
I'm aware that the heated seat elements are different on leather, so they will need to be swapped over too.

There seem to be different results from such a transplant. Some get the seats to work so they can be adjusted, although the memory function normally doesn't work.
Others get some kind of bus communication lock when the powered seats are connected but can't communicate with the car, since the car isn't aware of them, and stop working completely. |

I would be tempted to ask on the vdash Facebook group as there’s a way of adding options that weren’t originally specified (for a cost). May be a solution to get them working, or find out if the looms for them are already in the car.

Don't "do" Facebook, I'm afraid.
I'm not bothered about full functionality, just forwards and backwards and, probably, up and down. No memory needed. I just wonder if the power is already at the seat connector... Also, unfortunately, the breaker selling the seats can't remember if the seats are heated, which is an important one for me. Is there a way to tell without connecting them?

That should be visible in the connectors. Is it the V70 2011 you are doing this for?

take care when wiring seats as they have air bags and seat belt tensioners and could injure if triggered.
