Default 940 lpt turbo advice

I'm thinking of upgrading the turbo, but which would be advisable, it's the daily run about, but just after more real world performance,
Cheers russ

But then you have VW build quality! I know as I have had two and my mates have all had VW products.

Right how much more power do you want?

Have you considered a manual boost controller? I have mine set at 8psi and the difference is night and day from when it was a standard LPT

so many questions.

Which gearbox?
What do you mean by "real world"?
What does "daily runner" involve?
Keeper, or fun short term car?
What other mods are you considering?
Insurance?
Handy, or seven thumbs?

Like Luke suggests, either a manual boost controller or thewastegate actuator from an HPT, either will increase your boost/power/performance. As far as i'm aware, the only real difference between the LPT and HPT is different wategate actuators. Also by fitting the HPTactuator, it's less obvious anything has been done and you can easily say you bought it like that, just thought it went well.

So Wentworth was a 2.0 hpt will the actuator fit straight on a 2.3 lpt, and dose it then require any setting up, or dose it quite literally just bolt on? Is there any moving parts inside it worth replacing? Eg the spring?

Turning it into a HPT makes it plenty fast enough for normal daily driving. I’ve got a HPT (165bhp) and it shifts very nicely when you put your foot down. But it is quite juicy if you do that all the time.
If you want to make it faster you can tune these things to 300bhp and way beyond but you’re going to have to balance the uogrades with better suspension and handling and brakes too. I certainly would not like to drive one with standard suspension and 300bhp.

Normally a boost gauge and MBC to make sure you don’t go above 11psi will be fine for most people as that equates to around 200bhp fairly easily.

Just Don't do top speed tests, the turbo can't sustain 200bhp without things getting too hot. Thats really the relm of electronic boost control, but if you are sympathetic and give it a cooling break, its good for track use or spirited driving.
