Default HID's

Without getting into the legal side of fitting HID's and focusing on the technical side of things i have picked up on some threads asI have been in two minds about making the switch but as winter progresses im swaying into the go for it camp.
Am i correct in guessing there is an issue with wiper motors burning out when HID's are fitted, is this the headlight ones on earlier models or the windscreen wipers i have DRL's.
If so i dont understand the connection why this would happen, is there a proven fix, the seperate earth thing i dont see how this would make any odds.
Also some companies list kits for the Volvo V50 some not, how have they worked with the CAN bus system and warning lights etc as i dont fancy warning system problems.

Has anyone bought a plug and play kit and had no problems, if so can you advise preferably one which has been fitted with a good few miles on it as i frequently do long journeys down to the midlands from Aberdeen.

Thanks in advance.
