Default Leaking Injector Seal

Just discovered I have a leaking injector seal, which accounts for the ticking noise I've been hearing for a while when the engine is started from cold, does anyone know how easy these are to replace, is it something I might do myself or is it a garage job, ie special tools required etc...?

.....no, it is quite easy to do.....but you are better off to get the Haynes manual which explains it all.......i would renew all the seals there are two for each injector...use vaseline upon reassembly of them....the seals are expensive ...two in a packet from Volvo are about £6.30 so that`s £25 quid....but when will you do it again ,that`s what i say ,and at least you know it will run OK........really false economy just to do one seal.....you will see what happens when you remove the fuel rail.......hope this helps?...

I agree totally. I've just done mine as part of routine replacement following removal of the head. It's one of those jobs that may sound technical but with the Haynes manual and a little common sense it is very straight forward.

OK thanx guys, I'll look into getting a set of seals and get the job done, are the old seals easy enough to extract, that's the only thing that concerned me slightly?

Yes they are. If you think of the quick release fittings on a garden hose, the Orings are the same principle, just a little rubber ring around the ends of the injector.
