2008 V70 Trip Computer Fault
Hi everyone.
My first post so I appologise if this has been covered before. The Read button and trip computer scroll button are not working. Any Ideas? The rest of the function on the stork works just all connected to the trip. Anyone had this before? Thanks in advance Paul |

Thanks Clan,
Did you change it yourself or get it done at a garage? |

As above , you can do it yourself after removing the contact reel , but remove the battery before you do anything .but be carefull with the fine pins you have to locate on the new stalk to engage in the socket on the steering wheel module .

Thanks for the speedy replies guys,
From the looks of things its not a big deal. Now can anyone reccomend a garage in the Manchester area. looking through the other links in the forum it seems to be a bit out dated. Paul |

Hi,
I have a 2008 XC70. From the moment i have purchased the car (6 Months ago) I had problems with my DIM unit/display: self-resetting the average mpg, not able to explore the trip computer options, not responding to READ commands, not cancelling the massages... I was looking throw the internet and Ii didn’t find anything related but with the help of this thread I was able to narrow the problem. The problem: the wires, which are connecting the main connector of the stalk with the small electronic board (PCB) which is o the end of the stalk, are getting broken because of the movement in time. So solution: -take the stalk out from the car - open it: you need to pry out the back cover of the stalk -make a picture with your phone on the both ends where the small wires are soldered on the boards - check the continuity of the 6 small wires with a multimeter or with a pair of tweezers pull gently from each wire, if they are broken you going to fill that the wire core is coming out from the isolation. - from an old wired mouse or from an old VGA monitor cable, splint it and take 6 small wire like you have on the stalk - cut the stalk wires, take them out, solder the new wires on one of the boards (according to the picture which you have taken previously) afterwards pass the wires through the stalk articulation and solder them on the other board (according to the picture which you have taken previously) - assemble all back, fitted on the car, test it I hope it is useful for someone like it was useful for me. Enjoy the car and the money which you have saved, around 75 pounds, a full tank of diesel. |
