Default On call service required - message

Hi all,

Having had a blissful 8 months of no messages I returned from 10 days holiday to be met on start up with "on call service required " message which I duly cleared with the read button. Hoping it would go away I left it but on returning and start up its these again. I am led to believe it refers to the on call function in my car but having never paid for it nor intend to use it its of limited use?

I tried a disconnect of the battery but message remains, all other systems are working fine on the car so no idea what it means in fairness? How do you service an electrionic system?

Will it clear by itself after a while?

Read about pulling fuse 13/14 but as I have disconnected the battery I can see little point in pulling and replacing a fuse?

Reluctant to take it to the main dealer just to get the message cleared as it's clearly not deterimental to the car.

Anyone shed any light on this for me and a fix

As usual all help grateful received

Cheers all

Could be the internal battery needs replacing. See post #10: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=62670

The message means that there are fault codes stored in the phone module regarding the ON-CALL system which need investigating , The internal battery will NOT need replacing , Firstly it needs the battery monitor in the phone module resetting via VIDA , this should do it unless you have some other oscure fault with it .
You really do not know what you have there .. It is a Life saver and the longer it is Disabled the more risk there is of it not being able to save not your life as " it's clearly not detrimental to the car" but your families or other passengers would like to be saved i'm sure ..
The safety package is FREE ... you only pay if you want the security package . So best get it operational ..

Clan,

Many thanks for the advice, I have read a number of your posts on other issues.

Really appreciate the feedback and will aim to get the car read via VIDA at my dealer.

Thanks again

great news ! Then if you end upside down in a ditch trapped in the car unconscious the emergency services will be called and able to find to you .
