D5 engine top mount - Twin turbo variant.
Mine seems to be on its way out. I understand that some of it is 'flashing' but there's far too much fore/aft and lateral movement and I've noticed that gears 1-2 and 2-3 aren't as smooth as they were. I've packed it with a load of black silicone for now which has made a big difference to the gearshifts.
In the longer run, has anyone tried the Powerflex offering? https://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-ser...ert/12201.html I'm a little concerned that it may be too harsh as I know that the replacement bush for the old style mount was far from good, transmitting too many vibes in to the car - having said that, that particular mount was not specifically designed for diesels.

Polybushing a torque mount on a diesel will be a b-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-d idea.

Out of interest......based on what?
Surely the density of the polyurethane and the construction of the bush are what matters. If it was a solid block of polyurethane then I'd agree.

Based on personal before and after experience of another member's car and posts of similar experiences posted on here over the years.
Polybushing chassis/subframe and wishbone bushes I get because there is a tangible benefit to limiting their movement versus any (minor) downsides. Unless you're racing, what is the tangible benefit of harshly limiting the the movement of the engine with a polybush of any flavour versus the vibration being transferred to the cabin?

But you're comparing the old style round polybush with the newer design. The old round ones (purple) were single fitment for all variants: even the old style round ones are now in diesel and petrol variants, no doubt with different density and construction probably due to the fact that they were too hard.
Have you got any direct experience of the new style diesel specific ones?

Despite the fact that it is made from a lower density poly, I don't think I'll be trying! Even packing mine with silicone resulted in too many vibes in the cabin until I removed a lot of the silicone. When it finally gives up the ghost I'll get a replacement rubber one. Powerflex are a bit non-commital about the bush, stating it's all subjective, so unless they offered some kind of guarantee I wouldn't bother
