Default Inverness recommendation? Non volvo...

Hi all, looking for a recommendation for a garage to be trusted with work on an '86 VW Transporter. Not for me, but for a member of a forum that covers my other family transport(er).

I know there are active Inversneckians on here, so hoping for possible recommendations.

Cheers
Roger

Roger,

There are loads of "Independents" in Inverness, I'm off out for the day as the sun is out (for a change) I'll ask around and get back to you later if that is okay. Meanwhile there is a guy who rents out VW camper vans here http://www.happyhighlandcampers.co.uk and he may be able to advise - give him a ring. I visited his place with the Highland Classic Motor Club last year, nice guy, very helpful.

Thanks for the tip, Grant, I'll pass that on.

Roger,

The one person that comes out tops on recommendations for all vehicle general maintenance - non-Volvo stuff - is Jimmy Cruickshank here:

Unit 49 Carsgate Road
Inverness
IV3 8EX

Tel: 01463 718119

He used to work with Calterdon BMW Inverness and is very well thought of by locals who cherish their BMWs but don't want to pay gold bars to get their vehicles serviced. I am told for the best service speak to Jimmy himself, he is very helpful, very approachable and has a vast knowledge of all types of vehicles including err umm older vehicles from the 1980s.

Grant

PS. Thinking about the Happy Highland Campers bloke IIRC he does a lot of his own maintenance but he might be able to help anyway.

How far are you willing to travel? The lad I used for my audis is in Oldmeldrum, a bit if a hike but he is a fully qualified audi/vw master technician

Thanks for the replies again, I'll pass these on. My guess is the guy wants to stay in Inverness, but I'll pass on the Oldmeldrum recommendation too.
Cheers
