Default 2002 C70 Engine oil

What engine oil would you recommend for my 2002 registered C70. It has a T4 petrol engine with just under 100,000 miles on the clock.

Thanks in advance.

I think for a car of this age with that many miles on the clock as long as you use a good quality oil of the correct grade it will be fine.
I use a fully synthetic 5-40 from ECP which is often on offer...for both the volvo 130K mls and merc 230k mls, never had any problems, but I'm also reluctant to pay £50 ish for a gallon of oil.

Try the Comma website, they are good quality oils. Type in your reg and they should be able to tell you the oil you need. CarParts4Less are the online ECP site. Often cheaper than their branches. Get the right type and search ebay for the best deal.

I switched to Gulf Formula G 5w40 on all my 3 x 70' cars. I just looked at the technical PDFs and the Priortester (spelling) flow, boiling and wear tests and the Gulf G is very good.

On my now 160,000 mile daily C70 and a 250,000 mile C70 the engines don't burn any oil either even when driven briskly.

I just get my stuff from OPIEOILS.co.uk, we get a 10% discount via the forum.

I use Shell Helix Ultra 5w - 40 ACEA A3. Usually get it from ECP when they have a silly discount code. Stocked up a couple of weeks ago when there was 65% discount on oils.

OP, you will get a hundred different recommendations in a hundred replies, but the important thing is to use ACEA A3 of a good quality make.

As FredGraham says Car Parts 4 Less is often cheaper than ECP supposed height discounts - where they hike the cost and then discount - but can still be higher than CP4L normal price.

Comma is actually Esso oil.
I used to deliver it to their depot back in the eighties.
I assume nothing's changed.

As I live in France, local UK suppliers are unavailable to me but thanks anyway for all the info - that "Comma" site is excellent.

I bought some Elf Evolution 900 5w-40 - ACEA A3. I think it's a good quality oil and claims to be ideal for high mileage engines.

For what it's worth I have used both of these on a S70, both seemed to perform just fine.
