Looking to buy a Volvo 164E
Hi Chaps,
Just found this site after doing some research on the Volvo 164E. I've been looking out for a good one for a while, and a friend passed on some details of one that's going into Anglia Car Auction's next sale on the 9th April. I'd be much appreciative of people's opinions etc on it. Here's some details: Quote:
Thanks in advance!

For the year and mileage the car looks exceptional and if i was looking for a classic volvo i would have no hesitation bidding on it.best of luck if you decide too bid.

Looks very good to me. I hope you get it!
(A thought: Does the package of panels accumulated by the seller - also for auction - tell you anything about where he thought rust was starting?) John Last edited by john h; Feb 16th, 2011 at 06:26. |

This car did indeed achieve some fame a few years ago when it appeared in magazine adverts for Volvo cars. I couldn't find one just then but do remember the advert saying that Volvo's last.....
Hope the car is still in the condition it was then - I would certainly go and look at it if I was after another one. It sounds like good value to me. Paul |

Looks like a car in great condition, the aluminium trim looks good, it has the wheel rims which are so often missing. The interior looks great- she's loverly! I think these cars are SUCH good value. A good 164 failed to sell on ebay a few days ago, it got to £500 and didn't make the reserve. They are a solid, reliable, reasonably fast, easy to work on and make most 70's tin look like dinky toys! Thanks chaps, for all of your replies - much appreciated.
I thought that it looked like a lovely car, and your comments backed this up for me. I can't wait to see it when I go up to ACA.
