Default 2015 V60 D4 - engine starts but cuts out immediately

Hi,

My dad's V60 has thrown a tantrum. The engine starts but cuts out after a couple of seconds. Many associated dashboard fault warnings (airbag, steering etc).

Volvo Assist came out and gave up - no reported trouble codes, but they only have a basic reader with them. They think the battery is good.

Bit of a fight with VA actually because the dealer forgot to register the car for the cover when it was serviced last year, but they came in the end. Wouldn't provide a courtesy car though.

Now recovered to dealer so will update this thread if they figure out the problem. Would have thought the list of faults that would cause the engine to stop with no warning probably quite short.

It's a 2015 model so think it's past the leaking generation, but obviously it has chucked it down for a few weeks now.

I'm guessing the EGR valve has stuck open. Doesn't explain all the dash warnings but maybe the battery has run low from all the restarting?

Sound like EGR to me also, mine would start, idle for 3 seconds, die and then not start at all.

You might be lucky with Volvo as mine was just over 4 years old but Volvo paid for 100% of the EGR cost and 50% of the cooler replacement as goodwill
