Agree. That requires some ninja skills. First you have to tap the close button for the sensor screen to disappear. Then (most likely) a swipe towards the screen to the left, to get to the control buttons. And finally hit the camera button, which will take you to the latest used camera. If the latest use was the reversing camera, then another push to get to 360 is required.
And all of this must happen before the sensors kick back in again...most likely within a second. Impossible? Maybe not. But it is definitely not doable in one step. Normally it takes me two or three attempts to get to the camera, when the sensors are already active. A more elegant solution could be the answer, like a physical camera button positioned by the gear shifter in my old BMW. Last edited by HamDenFede; Jun 16th, 2019 at 08:34. |

Makes me glad I didn’t add on the front parking sensors. I’ve placed the camera button carefully so I can usually do one swipe and reach it when I need to, and don’t have to close the parking sensor screen.
Activating the camera when the parking sensors go off seems very logical though, do Volvo have any form of direct feedback for ideas like this??

Surely the rear camera operates as soon as reverse is selected?
This is logically the most important view and probably used in most reversing manoeuvers. Switching to other views is then a matter of choice, or when performing more difficult reversing such as into tight spaces. |

This 360 camera is so crying out to have a single press physical button somewhere on the car (maybe to the left of the rotary volume knob) that can be easily reached & operated in a single auto movement. Perhaps this “button” could have a Senus menu option to allow the driver to assign their own single preferred option

Everything should be able to operate via voice control, one touch on steering wheel button and Bob's your Uncle.

It would be great if someone could tip in on the original question related to colored obstacles in the non-360 view. It could be a feature of the newer cars (different hardware), maybe by latest software?

How about replacing the generic black screen that pops up when sensors detect an obstacle- with a live feed from the 360 cam?.. Seriously, what were they thinking?!..

I agree that 360 view is superior overall but still think it would be nice when selecting reverse or forward cameras that you would see that effect too, it's more intuitive than looking at the static picture and the camera view at the same time. |
