Marshalls not discounting

I noticed in the latest Driver magazine that Marshalls Cambridge were not listed as giving a discount. I rang Marshalls Peterborough this morning for a battery to be told that they are 'not supposed' to give discounts any more.
Does anyone know why they have withdrawn this agreement? Who negotiates club discounts for us?
I pointed out that a discount obviously has the potential to create sales for them, but it seems that we in Cambs will be forced to shop further afield as Marshalls has a monopoly in the county.

it is not obligatary for discount to be given to club members by all dealerships, it is left to their own discretion im affraid.

I'm not claiming it is, Paul.
Marshalls (including the Cambridge branch) have given discounts in the past and I was merely enquiring as to why they have withdrawn the facility, and whether we would be able to re-negotiate something.

I had a text from Marshalls Melton Mowbray (where I bought my XC90 a few weeks ago) the other day saying they are having an accessory sale during September if it is of any use to anyone

I think they are the last of the Marshall Group who are still discounting.

Give MRG Volvo (01249 443300) and ask to speak to Gary in the parts department. Mention that you've been referred on from here and ask if they can do you a good deal. Several people have contacted them this way and been able to source the parts at a very competitive price, even after the delivery costs have been added. Its definitely worth a try.
