1'40.131 was the best for the evening. I found that delicate use of the throttle in second can give a few hundredths as the Monaro tends to shred the tyres with little or no provocation. Definately on for a high 1'30.

and yes, that took a LOT of laps lol, did about another 6 or 7 laps after that and only got one other 1:39, rest were 1:40's so don't think I will manage any faster than that time to be honest but I'll try if someone beats it, good luck guys, my thumbs are sore lol. Ross

Impressive time.... I'll have another try when I get home, the DSA is playing up again on my S40 so I'll get plenty of practice controlling wheelspin out of hairpin corners on the drive home, lol
I think on this circuit the manual gearbox helps get the best out of the car actually - for one thing the auto changes up at 5500, but the engine revs past 6500 quite happily - and the auto has an annoying habit of changing into 1st on the tight corners... It is much easier to avoid the walls in auto mode though. |

1.39.099 - sorry its a bit blurry
Think there's still a bit of room for improvement - I've sometimes improved on that in an early section, only to lose it later on in the tricky middle bit... |

lol,
I tried quite a few laps with the auto box and couldn't get below 1:40 , probably for the reasons I mentioned earlier ... |

Impressive time's indeed, I'm not going to put myself through learning the manual box on the course so concede defeat on this one and will settle for 2nd spot, unless of course someone else beats me into 3rd, 4th, etc

Well looks like Timway comfortably won that one.
Tim, choose yorself a car and track, if you haven't already, and well run the next round until midnight Wednesday 15th. Sorry about late posting of results but work is seriously getting in the way of my internet time!!! I'll post up the times and league tables later today. Well done all.

Ok, here is the car/circuit for this week:
Trial Mountain (Normal) Car: RUF BTR '86 fully lightened and powered up as before (444bhp, 1062Kg) Quite a nice circuit I think, not one of the harder ones but the car has some tricky handling characteristics - took me a few laps before I even got round without spinning off I think the technique is to brake and turn in early then keep on the power once into the bend to stabilise the back end. So far I've been getting times in the 1:33's but some room for improvement I think. I find I keep powersliding it in faster corners whick probably isnt the best way. good luck! Tim |
