Default Remote Start/Pre-Conditioning and Heated Windscreen

Sorry if this has already been address earlier in the thread - I did read through all eleven pages but might have missed it - but...

Could someone with Remote Start and Pre-Conditioning (if a T8) tell me whether the heated windscreen is a noticeable improvement over simply warming up the interior. Thx

I guess it's a time thing. If you have time to let it run and heat up, the screen is going to clear with/without a heated screen. However, I find the heated screen great for a fast defrost - far faster than just normal heating

I also have a heated windscreen on the other car and the remote start performs that duty just as well if not better as the car is also warm/seats heated.

no need for a heated screen, the haters have got it wrong!!!
Not haters, I suspect like me most people would have both HUD and Heated screen if it were possible but as it was only one or the other, heated screen was my choice, living in the North of England it was more use to me.

Heated screen every time.
I did have HUD on a Jaguar, but missed the heated screen.

It's a pity they cant find a way to give us both.
Maybe one day if we are still allowed to drive cars.

One big advantage of HUD, which is rarely (if ever) mentioned, is the information if Pilot Assist is ON or not. Without HUD, the car will silently tell you on the driver display "apply steering" and then silently switch it OFF. With HUD, this message is on the screen, easy to spot (or better said, difficult to miss).
I often read people complaining that there is no audio warning about PA, which I guess is a safety issue designed intentionally by Volvo. Having HUD solves this.

Really, my car bongs at me for PA if I don't put my hands on the wheel, never switches it off silently?

You are asking or telling us?
Because I have no audio warning about that. And I remember people telling the same thing, no audio warning.

Telling, my car has an audio alert which repeats until you touch the wheel.

Also states repeated audio alert here, both for pre update and post update

Hm, maybe I have it switched off or something. I will need to test this.
If there is a sound, I take back my comment
