Volvo ID app

What is the Volvo ID app used for, does it have a purpose, has anyone used it, if so what for, what does it do ?. Had my XC90 over 3 years and never used it, I logged in on it the other day and it said I can now start to use volvo systems or something like that, but did not see anything I could do with the app, am I missing something.

I asked the same question here about 4-5 months ago when I got my XC60, but nobody provided a clear answer.
My assumption is that it has something to do with the “in car delivery” or any other “connected car” services. Unfortunately I never got the chance to use this service as most of the time my car is underground (either at work or at home).

But I might be as well very wrong about it

I guess it doesn’t bring any straight forward benefits. Personally I haven’t noticed any changes after I logged in with my Volvo ID (created with the VOC app) in the Volvo ID car app.

I assume that OP is in the same situation

Yes, I have all safety options in my car and I have always been able to send destinations to the car without Volvo ID being activated, I have not noticed any difference with or without Volvo ID. There is nothing I can do with the in car app other than login or turn it off and remove it.

From my point, I do not have VOC.

I had to log on with the Volvo ID App, to be able to send destinations to the car.
The car needs to know my email address, etc.

I have VOC so maybe Volvo ID is of more benefit to those cars that do not have a VOC subscription.
