Default SRS Airbag issue - V70

I have a 2003 V70 D5. Still doing well after 150K etc. However the other day this warning came up - SRS-AIRBAG SERVICE URGENT". Could anyone please explain this and what has to be done/implications and so on. Can it be ignored? - I read on another thread it could be an MOT failure?? Is it a visit to the dreaded dealer? If it's a massive cost it might be serious as I have a timing belt coming up and the clutch very occasionally slips a very small amount. Sorry - lots of questions - thanks very much.

Default Hi ref srs message

Hi I had this and yes it’s a mot fail but easily fixed with a obd code reader
Most mechanics have them theses day or can be purchased cheaply

Which light has come on? The orange triangle, or red airbag light?

It’ll need a code read in any case.

Thanks. But being an ignoramus, what does one do with an obd code reader?! Thanks.

Thanks. I borrowed an OBD2 scanner. Unfortunately it came up with nothing showing. So I emailed the maker who said “Yes it will show no codes because SRS codes are not DTC engine related codes (our scanners only do engine related faults)”. So I guess I’ll have to use a garage one as it seems SRS scanners are much more expensive.

It'll be worth asking on the forum if there's anyone near you with vida who will be willing to read your car for beer tokens.
