I think his point was that the charger is supposed to 'read' the battery and let him know if it is beyond recovery.
The battery will either not increase its charge, not take-on charge at the expected rate, or not hold charge. This kind of charging device is supposed to monitor the first two and flag any problems, if the first two went as planned you are left with holding charge. If the battery has taken-on charge, it will not vanish instantly, just drop over a few hours. Thus, the charger may well be faulty or not what it says on the tin, as at least one of these parameters were seemingly 'read' or reported wrong. Was the battery checked with a multimeter? I would be contacting ctek with the findings, after multimeter readings, so they can advise and/or replace as necessary. |

Yes AndyV70, that was my point exactly.
The charger should have flagged an error, but didn't. I don't know the tolerance of the led lights showing the amount of charge in the battery. It was flashing green while connected, then disconnected and the flashing led went red. They must be sensitive, when the new battery was checked in store it read 12.74v, connected to car and the flashing led flashed amber suggesting that it needed a charge. After the drive home the led was green, so I connected to the charger overnight for a full cycle charge. This morning the car turned over very quickly compared to what I normally experience, so I would assume that the battery needed changing anyway.

I’ll have it switched to go through the backbox when the time comes, but I’m guessing it wouldn’t affect emissions if it was switched to bypass it as all my Cats are still present. My only guessing of problems would be if they did a noise check in the MOT , but if that’s the case I’ll pick my MOT station where the owner is hard of hearing Ps Sorry for highjacking the thread guys.. I am considering the removal of the rear muffler on my V8 to get a better engine noise.
When I asked at my MOT station, he said that it had to be the same sound as an equivalent car, his answer was that he wouldn't have the equivalent car to compare it with so he would have to pass it. Hope this helps, don't mind you hi-jacking the thread either lol.
