Stereo problems - thoughts much appreciated
Hi - first post - I’ve got a Volvo V70 2008 and it is fitted with the High Performance Sound System. The CD unit’s ejector button doesn’t spring out - so once you put a CD in you can’t get it out again. It is possible to get a knife and prize it out again (the button) and it will eject. Any thoughts on a fix?
Also: The Radio won’t pick up any AM stations - just silence - again any thoughts? Finally - there is a 3.5mm jack in the armrest box - it’s just broken off and gone inside the housing... help? Just desperate to be able to play some music! I did look into getting a replacement unit - but the Volvo main dealer seemed to think that would be £600 and a Volvo specialist near me said I ‘could’ buy one from the same year as my car - and it ‘might’ work - but doesn’t seem like a worthwhile risk... All thoughts on possible fixes or alternatives would be gratefully received. |

As I understand it, non-functioning AM radio is a known problem. I have it on my 2007 (2008MY) V70 as well... I've never looked into fixing it though, my brief researches on the subject seems to indicate it would be a bit of a faff...

Thanks Cabbie - I read through the ‘eBay users beware’ thread and after the’your car will be remotely shut down by Volvo scare the upshot seemed to be it was not really worth bothering to try to source a second hand unit as it might just be a waste of money... seems daft to make it so impossible to replace a faulty stereo.
