Default Playing MP3 From Amazon Music

Hello,

I have a MY16 V40 which I use a USB with a load of ripped MP3 music mainly from old CDs long gone.

I also have a few albums I've downloaded from Amazon Music and also put on these MP3's (according to the format), however, they will not play in the V40 says format unreadable.

I also have a MY19 XC60 and they play fine so for some reason the slightly older V40 doesn't like downloaded music from the Amazon.

Has anyone experienced this?

Hi James,

Not that i have any experience of the audio system you have there, but a couple of questions..

are the sets of music files (ripped and amazon) on the same usb drive ?

might be a number of causes..

the format of the usb stick is incompatible most things can read fat (google fat filesystem for some background info), so perhaps the device you have the amazon files on is incompatible, or can you see the filenames but not play them when selected?

the other more likely cause is either the bitrate of the .mp3 files, if you try looking at the 'properties' of the working and incompatible files you might discover the difference.. bitrates go up to 320kbits on mp3 files, also have a look in whatever program you use to rip the cds to see what format or settings are being used, some background info here..

I've had the same problem which I created MP3's from M4a's (Apple format).

Plays fine on the computer and in another car with a MP3 USB slot - but not in my V40.

I realise this is a long time after the thread opened but you have to convert Amazon Music tracks as a regular MP3 file. I use a sound tool on an old Roxio software suite and does the job.
