There are deals to be had on the V40's although not to the extent of some vehicles such as S/V60 that are available

I had a test drive of the V40 when it first came out. I really liked it and might look at it seriously next year when the XC60's PCP is up if I'm not doing as many motorway miles as I am now.
I'd quite like the cross country T5, but it's really crying out for a 4C chassis, I can't believe it's not an option on that car.

I think it was the D3 150 hp, they had as a demonstrator. I was trying to get the wife to buy one but she thinks it's too masculine.
I really liked the configurable dash, but it looks like that may be coming to the facelifted XC60 soon.

Thanks for that. Your wife thinks it looks masculine? I like it because I think it doesn't! I considered the V40 rather expensive, which I suppose it is once options are added, although after doing a bit of research, was surprised nowadays at the list price of Vauxhalls, Fords even Hyundais and Kias (i30 and c'eed). Wondering if anyone has experience of the T3 petrol. I have in S60, although wonder what its like fitted in V40. Mtilling, have you driven the petrol version? Regards |

Anyone got a new v40?
I have had a V40 since the end of October - brilliant!
First Volvo!! D2 1.6 SE Lux Nav with loads of extras.. Previously had a Mazda 3 so very similar chassis. This was a Demo that came out of the blue from a garage we had made enquiries but were wavering as trying to justify the cost. Most cars we have had have been Demos It was too good a deal to turn down! It had just 5000 miles on the clock! Very comfortable, which was a key issue, economical (had an easy 60mpg going down to the SW), generally round where I live - which has hills everywhere we are averaging around 46 mpg, TFT display is excellent overall and gives good info. Boot space is adequate for what we need but have put a liner and mat in as we have to ferry dogs around occasionally - incredibly expensive for what they are, yet nobody else was making them yet(too new!) Engine is fine and responsive when needed, the six gears need a little getting used to but the car tells you when to change to maintain as economical an mpg as possible. Really pleased, though a couple of little gripes: turning circle is not as good as the Mazda, the front pillars can be a little restrictive vision wise, at junctions; the Sat Nav is great BUT where some of the info comes from is a mystery as it shows a garage near home which closed nearly 10 years ago! So after nearly three months, no regrets whatsoever. With the weather changing we will see how it copes now. Hope that helps. |
