S40 Front seat L <--> R swap?
Is is possible to swap the (manual adjustment) front seats of a 2011 S40 R <--> L?

If you mean that you want to put a passenger seat in the driver's seat and vice versa, I would say probably not, they have airbags in them on one side incase of side impact which would now be useless, and I think it would probably confuse the seat occupancy sensors.

S40 Front seat L <--> R swap?
... so the next question is - how does one repair a "sagging" seat, i.e. one where the seat bottom is losing its form and support capabilities? Taking into consideration PNM's information that there is an airbag in there somewhere?

The seat covers are removable and I think new bolsters are available from Volvo although don't expect them to be cheap. If you remove the seat (be sure to disconnect the battery first and leave for 5 mins or you'll get an airbag warning light that will require VIDA/dealer work to extinguish) you can remove the lower bolster cover and repair from there. The airbags are all in the upper seat section.
I've checked on VIDA and the padding is available as a replacement part. Beware though that if you have heated seats Volvo state that you cannot transfer the heating pad so you'd need to replace that as well further increasing the cost.
