Hello,
Wondering where forum users Volvo's were made. I just noticed today my VIN plate reads 'Made in Belgium', it's a '97. Interested to hear if others are made in Sweden or elsewhere. Cheers |

Hello,
I have a Gothenburg label on my front doors but it's the VIN plate that states Belgium. Was hoping mine would have said Sweden, googled the image and spotted some with this. Thanks lads |

Funnily enough I was getting a number off my VIN plate the other night and was a bit taken back to find Made in Belgium stamped on it! '98 S70 2.5 20V

The large European market Volvo's have been built in the Belgian and Swedish plants for a while; the smaller cars have been built in Holland since Volvo bought DAF in the 1970's
C70's were built at a joint ownership (TWR and Volvo) factory in Sweden, whilst the rest were built at Ghent. I think that Torslanda/Gothenburg have traditionally built the large cars, so from the launch of the S80 onwards the production of the 850/x70 was moved to Ghent. NedCar was the joint ownership (Volvo and Mitsubishi) that came out of the Dutch factories, with the partnership being dissolved when Ford bought Volvo Car. Other plants are (were) in Canada, Australia, Malayasia and now China to name a few.
