The amp I am am currently holding has no numbers whatsoever on the outer body. However, on the inside face of the multiplug connector and, visible by looking at the amp from the outside, impressed in the plastic of the socket between the pins is: AMP 928722. That looks to me suspiciously like a Volvo Pt. No. but, I leave you to 'google' it!

Looks even more like an Amphenol part number to me Bob!

https://www.digikey.com/product-deta...4CT-ND/3488705

That links to the AMP928721-2 which are the pins for use in the housings, you choose the housings from the options further down the page.

However it seems some part numbers have changed as has the company name aparently, now TE Connectivity from the looks of things.

In electronic terms, something from 1990 is positively antique now so getting the same connector is highly unlikely. I digress thogh,i had hoped there would be a Volvo label with a Volvo part number on the amplifier.

Aah!! All VERY interesting. It's actually got a -1 after the AMP No. I quote so it must be more antique and higher value being even more rare (very rarer) than the one you quoted!!

Can't remember where that amp came from! I shall have a look sometime as I suspect there must be more in a box somewhere. Should I ever go under my dash I will look at the one in my car as I don't think I ever bothered to take it out in the unlikely event I or someone might in the future have wanted to go 'retro' and refit the original CR-702!!

About as rare as the one bearing the suffix "a-2" which if memory serves (it's a long time since i played a lot with Ampenol stuff) is the female half of the plug/scoket combo, a-1 denoting the male half with the pins that stick up expectedly for the female receptacle type pins to be mated with!

Oooooo-errrrrr!
