CV shaft makes clicking noise (video included). is it ok?
Hi.
My S80 makes knock type noise from time to time on left side and it drives me crazy. the noise appears on cornering, hard breaking and such types of situations, not when i hit pit on the road. so far i have changed engine pads and outward CV joint on left side. this had no effect on my problem. please check the added video and comment if its normal that pulling axle shaft makes noise. it does so on both side when car is lifted and i pull in axle direction. when wheels are under load i cant provoke the knock noise no matter what and how i pull. View My Video excuse my English, its not my native language

The bit of sound is heard after the video's midpoint.
There appeared to be motion at the inboard CV joint. Still, checking the hub bolts is the first step. Keep in mind that these hub bolts are one time use hardware as they are stretched. It's likely someone has tightened them before you. Are you the first owner? How many miles on this car? Kira |

thanks for the input guys.
i will check on drive shaft bolts(as soon as i find out what it is in my language lol) im not the first owner of the car. i own it for several months now. overall the car is in good condition and has been serviced with original parts before me. it has something like 200t km on it wich converts to like 130t miles.

Quote:
you will get knock if you pul and push in line with shaft as there is float. If u lock a mole wrench or vice grips to the shaft and waggle so u rotate the shaft forward and back and you get pronounced knock with excess play - you found your fail. There shouldnt be much movement u see. |
