Default Standing Current Drain

I have a -04 V70 with a battery that seems not to be holding charge.
As a first step I have placed an ammeter in series with the neg pole of the battery and can see that once the alarm has been set there is a continuous drain of about 100mA. Is this normal or is this what is causing the battery to discharge over time?
many thanks

I understand there is a known issue with battery drain due to a defect in the alarm system on this age of V70 and a temporary fix is to disconnect the fuse.
Unfortunately this section is for the phase 3 model. If you repost in the correct section someone will be able to sort you out with which fuse to take out and on a permanent fix.

F38 in the dashside fuse box is the one you need - check on the decal though as it did get moved around 2004 I believe.

Alarm siren module definitely a prime suspect if it's the original. Usually if the siren is failing you will get random activations and the odd warning message. With the fuse out the remote still works , the alarm sets, the led flashes and the alarm system will detect intrusion but without the sound effects. You will also get an alarm service message at every start up. New unit is about £180 and is a fairly easy diy job. It's up in the drivers wheel arch.
100 mA is not a lot. You might want to get the battery and charging system tested. Another suspect is the alternator regulator/rectifier. They can short and drain current away.
