Thanks Ron! Yes, no one was hurt but it’s quite the mess... first gut reaction is to fix it. It seems like the underpinnings are pretty much where they should be. The dust is still settling.
If I’m going to do it, I aspire to replace the inner wings and clean up fenders. Will look for the primer on posting pics... |

"PS BlueOsprey, are you Greg ,Peter’s friend?!"
No, I'm Jeff. All my friends have come and gone, but my enemies have accumulated. On top of that, although I express a lot of opinions, I don't know much about these cars. |

Bb;
You need to have a manner of posting, or hosting pictures, then simply put the location (URL) into the picture embedding icon. I am told that IMGUR host for free at this time. Cheers |

Ron or anyone stateside, do you know of anyone that might have a trunk lid anywhere near CT? I’ve heard of a guy in Maine but no details at hand. After getting my car up and running I haven’t spent much time on the forum (after LOTS of time during the rebuilding!)
Been busy with all the insurance rigamarole on all the damage to three buildings from the storm. After I get the verdict from the body shop, maybe tomorrow, I’ll sit down and get “before“ pics up so everyone can enjoy the “resurrection”, I hope !! Thanks! |

Well, by way of update, the determination has been made that my car is better off going "off to a better place". Two local shops said it's just too much of a can of worms situation to take a chance on...
Of course as soon as I made the call to Hagerty, my son scoured the internet and found a car for me, I was dubious because it seemed too good to be true but It is a clean solid bodied '67 2-door manual with a lot of good maintenance having been done over the years. They put some money into this car but someone "repainted" it and it's just cringeworthy. It was dark blue 96 but this looks like it was done with a brush after palm sanding! Oh well, if it had a great body, great mechanicals, and a great paint job I couldn't have afforded it so I'm happy! The nice thing is that it's not really been messed with. My red car was an auto conversion and had the Weber conversion also. This is a factory M40 with SUs. It's a real runner, and I look forward (with some trepidation?) to learning the ways of the carbs. The throttle linkage seems like it's in need of some real adjustment as it has a lot of resistance coming off idle because the leverage is off, from what I see. There is also a dieseling issue when it's hot which I'm considering seafoaming. I don't think it's been run that much lately and I wouldn't be surprised if there's some hot craggy carbon in those cylinders. Right now I'm trying to create space to work on it as the tree that destroyed my car also destroyed my car shed! Never a dull moment! And Blue Osprey, I did call Joe at Susquehanna Spares and he's great! Pretty sure I'll be doing a road trip down there for bits and bobs and just to see his collection! This car has a lot less problems than my first one, but you never forget your first one , do you, Anyway, for anyone that has an interest, I'm back in the game and will be back on here for carb advice and general camaraderie. I missed looking for arcane details about issues, large and small, and the folklore that went along with it. Ron, I guess I don't need that trunk lid anymore. I suspect that you forgot anyway?! |
