Cheers. You should have done Blyton - the circuit suits a standard power MX5 and it's not too hard on the car with only a couple of braking points. The hardest part on the car was the pot holed entrance road to the circuit unless they've repaired it since I was there! I'm probably going to go again in October.

The front legs are a crap design from the factory. Multi layers of steel and they rot from the inside outwards so it's not always obvious. You can get various repair sections which are solid steel with all the fixing points pre fitted so you can chop out the rubbish and weld in the new bits.

When I got mine the nearside one had a small hole in the base and the offside was just starting to bubble so I had them both sorted professionally using repair sections, painful for the wallet but should only have to do it once and the car was cheap to buy originally so it evened out for me.

They are easy to work on and go like a gokart. Watch out on the cam sensor as the mk2 and 2.5 are different (how they fit in the cam cover).

The heartbreaking thing is now that she's running so sweet with the new exhaust, fresh cam sensor, all fresh fluids, plugs, filters and silicone leads...really pulling strongly through the gears and handling beautifully on the Bilsteins I really want to keep her.
Due to self employment though, we're not commuting so the car is not getting the use it deserves AND we need the driveway space....
When we go shopping the V70 is of course the natural choice !

Because the proliferation of neglected £800 examples on eBay tells the uninitiated and cynical that they're overpaying at anything more.
An MX5 is an MX5....
These people tend not to think beyond the surface. Thats why many of them wear masks at every opportunity....and will do so until the day they die until told otherwise.
A year ago I paid £1750 for this car. I then spent around £1400 on it (mostly while bored during lockdown)....
I no longer need it (I wish I did because its terrific)....so sadly it must go.
Oh, I've just popped four Goodyears on last week too.
It needs using.

Looks a great car and a load of money spent making it a superb car. I fancy a convertible again after my C70 and Saab 9-3 (a far better driving car than C70 !) but at 6'4" I think it would be too tight for me sadly, which is a shame as your not too far away....

Shame, as you say John. Especially as I've just dropped it to £1500.
I've just been out for a blast for the first time in a couple of weeks due to the weather and she's not running quite as smoothly as before....she did this last winter, then she ran fine......
Leads possibly, plugs, damp, a sensor ? I don't know....I might pop it round to the village garage if not sold by the end of the week.

Edited to add....
I've just Googled '6' 4" and drive an MX5' and surprisingly there are many out there reporting a comfortable if snug fit. Some are removing the drivers armrest and changing to a MOMO sports steering wheel to give a little more room, but it seems quite doable.
