Well after reading all the pages .. 45 lol, I’ve gone from panic to calm, my information box on the dash has gone and just flashes every now and then. Repair bill I had in my head has gone down from £1000 to about £65 with the solid advice and many years of research by you guys.
Many thanks, I’ll be contacting Lucas to do the repair.

I fitted a 2008 facelift set in my 2005 S60, other than an LED rework it was plug and play, no programming issues.

Cost £30 for Facelift Dim on ebay!

I bought my 2003 XC70 last November. I knew it had an ABS fault and that the ABS module needed to be reworked. Xemodex repaired and works fine. Initially the DIM would show the clock in set mode most of the time and last month I started having SRS faults. Last Monday I started having the DIM reset intermittently and check engine faults. The reset became intolerable and I removed the DIM Thursday and resoldered the Motorola CPU and the Yazaki IC. Reinstalled and had to reset SRS error and now everything is working well.

I bought a number of second hand ones thinking they'd work. None did. When eventually Lucas fixed it we had a discussion. He told me that only DIMs from the same WEEK are plug and play. Frankly, given his vast experience, I'd take that as gospel.

In terms of upgrading to chrome bezels, that's easy peasy. Simply take all the front off your non chrome one and swap it for a chromed version. It too me all of 10 mins and that included cleaning with cotton buds dipped in IPA (not the beer) all the dials and pointers. The newer one had a far less scratched too
