Default Problems with HID conversion install

I've just had a HIDS4U ultimate kit installed into my 09 V50 by an auto electrician.

First problem is i've got a low beam bulb failure (i thought these kits were canbus compatible)

and the other one, not really a problem but I have a 5000k kit which is advertised as pure white but they seem to have a green look about them. I had some white 'xenon look' bulbs before these and noticed the same green tinge to them. Do the volvo projectors have some sort of coating to them that makes things yellowy green?

You shouldn't be getting low beam bulb failure, they are canbus compatible, has he fitted them correctly, would be my first question.

I have 5K in mine, if they are brand new, they start off like that. Bed them in and they will be a nice bright white. I did have some 6K and they were a bit too blue. I think Volvo OEM is 4300K.

The lenses could be dirty, there is a guide on here somewhere on how to clean them, a bit tricky on some versions of the ballast but not impossible.

I would think so, theres nothing left in the box and everythings plug and play. Wouldn't be something to do with it being an 59 plate would it? If you do a vehicle search for anything past an 05 on HIDS4U they say they have no kits available. I didnt do this at the time. Ive emailed them to see if they have any cancellers or anything.

Maybe your reflectors are 'burnt' inside the projector lens housing. As the lights are always on the heat from the bulb tends to burn the silver coating away leaving it an orangey/brown colour and upsetting the beam pattern.

These HID kits have to be earthed separately and not back to the suspension turret (where it can affect the wiper motor wiring?) there's plenty on here about it somewhere.

You've done the right thing getting 5000K, the ideal colour temp is around 4800 I believe.

I purchased the HIDS4U wiper protection harness which puts the kit on its own supply with its own earth as oppose to going through the stock headlamp harness.

Yes I chose the 5000k kit as I know someone with the 6000k kit and it looks really blue, I was expecting it to be less yellow than it looks at the minute though. They start off white then go yellow after a couple of minutes.

They are sending me some resistors to fit in line with the ballast, and if that doesnt work a different harness...free of charge,

Cant fault the company for support.

Can I just ask why they can't be earthed to the suspension turret?

What kit did you get, 35w or 55w

My guess is that you got a 35w kit but the kit is a dud and instead of giving an output of 27 or so watts its putting out around 18-20 watts and that is what is giving you the green tinge to them.

Tez - you are absolutely fine to earth to the suspension strut. It is a valid earthing point regardless if the wiper motor is earthed to that particular strut.
