Default Disable hands free boot opening

Hi.

Is there a way to disable handsfree boot opening I.e. Kicking motion under the bumper?

I was vacuuming the car the other day and the damn thing closed on me and hit me on the head. (don't laugh).

😂

Thanks.

I'd like to know this as well. I have had several times when standing at the back of the car and accidentally triggered the boot to come down on its own. Hitting me and my children.... Not ideal.

Nope, not that I am aware of. You'd think it could be put into the door and locking settings with a simple update, but it hasn't been done. People have commented on this for the last three years.

Best bet when cleaning, connecting trailer electrics, putting boots on while sat on the back of the car etc is to put the key somewhere out of range, as the function will only work with the key in range.

Default Disable boot opening

There is a fuse just for "foot movement detection module for opening the power tailgate". Try removing it

Yes we got the dealers to remove the fuse after we were taking our walking boots off last year and the boot came down and hit my wife on the head, luckily it didn't damage the boot.

Not got round to it yet but I have an idle plan to install a small switch in the boot in the circuit for the boot kick. Should be easy enough to do.....

Fuse 15 in cargo area fuse box is the dedicated foot movement fuse, remove that to deactivate it.

I'm not sure, but I think I remember that the door does not close unless you have the keys with you. So you just let them inside the car the door will not close.

And momentarily leave the car unintended, lose the car and be uninsured......

Unfortunately this is not easily accessible - as it shows in the pic. Looks like it situated behind the inner boot trim - which looks like a bit of PITA to remove.

Will have to look under the car to see if I can see the sensor module and maybe disconnect from that end.
