Default Airtec Crossover Pipe on V50 T5

Hi all, newb here

Just bought my 2008 t5 last week

I have ordered a panel filter and was looking at the airtec crossover pipe that goes from the airbox to the turbo intake

Has anyone fitted one of these?

No experience of these myself but know which bit you're talking about; this is purely 'cosmetic' being on the fresh air inlet side of the turbo - I can't see any performance benefits?

In theory it is not only cosmetic as oem plastic pipe flattens up in the middle where most aftermarket ones retain max diameter for whole lenght, also because are made of metal are less prone to heat up air, but this is only theory. I have no clue how/if it helps with anything or provide any performance benefits except "coollookness"
would be interested to see scientific test!

it does make a difference, if you do get one go for the 3". you will need an adaptor pipe from the turbo to the intake and also then to the maf as well. That will help your air intake massivly.

Got a 3" intake on at the moment.

Thanks for the info

I did similar on a mk7 golf keeping the oem box and replacing the turbo intake pipe and it does make a significant difference

Just the focus one is £130 and the equivalent V50 one is £190 and they look exactly the same

That's weird there isn't really any difference that I know of. You can pick up some incredibly cheap ones on the focus st and rs forums on Facebook.
