Default slipping windscreen wiper

Hi, I have a 1998 V70. For a considerable time the drivers front wiper has been hitting the bodywork just below the windscreen on the downward sweep. I decided to remove the arm in order to move it up a little but discovered that the spline has rounded slightly by reason of constantly hitting the bodywork. Anyway I adjusted the wiper but whilst not now hitting the bodywork the wiper flies off the screen on the upward sweep. the blade is slightly loose and I cant get a tight enough fix on the spline. My local breakers have nothing in stock so I was thinking of winding some plumbers tape around the spindle in the hope of getting a tight fit. Has anyone had a similar problem with wipers. thanks jack.

Jack: ~ you could try a product as above or similar, low strength or medium that enables the fastener to be undone with normal hand tools.
Don’t us a high strength or you could have difficulties when you revisit the fastener!
Hope it helps-Bob

Wrap a couple of tight layers of aluminium foil around the splines then gently tap down the wiper arm.
