Yes, good point. The guy is after all running a business not a social services dept!

Dealers can be rather attractive from a convenience point of view. Although going private (even if the car needs £'s spent to get it up to scratch) is cheaper I have used them myself. My current 240 was bought form a dealer in Surrey, straight guy specialising in trade clearances from main dealers. I managed to haggle down the price and get him to do a number of jobs so was happy. I still paid more than private but I just couldnt source the exact model and colour that I wanted privately in the time I had available.

I bought my 940 privately as there are more about so given even the tight deadline I had at the time, this was not a problem.

For the later models I would go private every time - loads about.

Default kudos

I bought my V70 off Thornwood, I think I dealt with Peter and Hugh, they were both very helpful and had a good presentation for independents, especially they are out in the sticks.

I would buy from them again, you should not let the pricing shy you away, I used to keep looking on that site and some of the motors have been there for a few months, so I think negotiations are quite flexible.

Also he is located in the countryside so his business is made up of people who come from afar. I travelled from Worcester so it is a long trip.

Doesn't hurt to keep his link in the bookmarks, you never know what he might get in stock. He has a fair few R's come in stock which is good if you are in the market for one.

I wish all the best to Thornwood.

Default thornwood

i too can vouch for thornwood car sales, as two of my friends have purchased from him, with no reservations at all. yes!!! you can buy cheaper, but,you only get what you pay for, and the two cars i have seen are in near pristine condition.

As a dealer he is required by law to offer a warranty, minimum, I believe of three months.

Having said that, those who have had problems with their purchase seem to have had things put right without any delay.
