I also took a fancy to some older ones to play about with.
1965 122S
1972 144 DL, current
1972 164, current but needs some work

Ian, thanks for the kind comment. Do not be ashamed of having a liking for the 480. They are truly addictive. Try one, I did, then my wife 'snaffled' it! Can't keep her out of it now!

These are the volvos that my Dad and grandparents had.

1st A brown 244 DL with the big bumpers. (Grandparents car) I loved that car as a child. It was like a tank.

Dad had the same but with a black leather interior. Very nice as well.

2nd A 1985 C reg 340GL C159 BTA. had for nealy 6 years

3rd volvo a 1986 740GLE Estate D795 RJW. PX for Corolla.

Out of all of the volvos we have had I liked my very first car the 740 and I also liked the 240 as compared to my estate the 240 saloon felt quicker and had a much nicer ride and had a far better plastic interior.

In the future I will get a nice late model 940 estate.
I still like reading the forums. James.

At the moment i have a 1996 850 GLT T5
The last volvo was a 1989 740 GLT 2.3 16valve, 2001-2004.
In 1981-85, i had the use of a volvo 164, that had been converted into
a pickup, Maybe somebody remembers it in Torquay in the 80s, It was red with `EVANS AUTO PARTS` down both sides.

I have a picture of that pickup on my files. My list of Volvos started with a 760 GLE Turbodiesel. That progressed to a 945 SE 2.4 (Turbodiesel), a 944 SE 2.4 (Turbodiesel), a 480 Turbo and a 480 ES, a 244 and a 164 (both gone to the scrapyard in the sky), a Volvo 66 (went to Germany on a trailer with Foggy). My latest additions are a 145 in excellent nick and a 145 in Yellow which belonged to the lead guitarist of the Trogs. The yellow one is a scrapper but the engine, gearbox, propshaft and rear axle will transfer to the White one as it is a manual setup, rather than the BW35 autobox at present in the White one.

I would be happy to reduce my "stock" and would like a home for the 480 Turbo (160,000 miles, needs door hinges for left hand door, and a bit of TLC on the left rear quarter as well as new rear lamp lenses and a small amount of welding) with new windscreen fitted and large glass electric sunroof.
