Just a quick update to my posts from the other week. I 've now had the car for a couple of weeks. It's driving well with no problems from the lpg side. I did have a problem just after I started driving the car with it leaking brake fluid at the rear of the car. I got a garage to check it out, and it turned out to be the brake pipe that runs from the front to back of the car. The pipe runs behind the fuel tank, and it was one of the obscured sections on mine that had rotted out. Quite worrying that it can't be spotted in an MoT test really! Anyway, this was repaired (£285!) and all is well.
I've started noticing the last couple of days that I'm getting a reasonable loud annoying rubbery squeak from the rear of the car. The squeak seems to be coming from outside the car, but is very audible when travelling at slow speeds over speed bumps etc. I think it may be a shock absorber, or a shock absorber bush. Unfortunately I can't see them with the car on the ground, so I may have to jack it up at some point. Has anyone else experienced this?? |

Lpg
I have a 53 v40 Bi Fuel, just coming up to 160000 and used to commute 30 miles a day on rural a roads. I get +- 185 miles from the LPG tank and it costs me £20 - £22 to fill up. Love the car, only issue I have is the dash lamp that tells me it's running on LPG has stopped working, but you still get the audible click as it switches over. Took me 8 months of fuel saving to pay for the car, 18 months later and I'm enjoying free motoring.
Taking into account the odd petrol fill ups, I get 13.5 pence per mile in fuel costs. |

Thanks for the reply, its interesting to hear the figures from another owner with usage similar to mine.
My car has an auxiliary tank fitted giving a total capacity of around 70ltrs. I'm still on my first tank(s)ful at the minute. I filled it up to the brim and zero'd the trip meter a couple of weeks ago when I filled it up. My lpg gauge moved from the full position earlier this week which means the aux tank is now empty and I'm now running on the standard tank. I'll probably have to fill up at the weekend, or Monday at the latest. I'll post the figures when I do. |

Well I've just refilled my first tankful, and I've managed 27 mpg on gas over 511 miles of a mostly motorway commute. By my calculations that makes an equivalent of 50mpg on petrol. To be honest, I'm a little disappointed that it didn't get into the mid 50's, but it's still 10mpg better than astra, which equates to about a £30/month saving.
